To edit the different price sources, cost prioritization and options for your BOM, click on Project in the top navigation bar of your BOM and then on Settings.

From here, you can update your BOM settings, such as:

  • Risk Index
  • Multipliers
  • Last Pick Settings
  • Lowest Price Settings
  • IPN Auto Matching
  • Manufacturer Settings
  • Cost Prioritization

You can also modify which Price Sources BOM Insight searches from, their different options, as well as its Cost Prioritization. You can update:

  • Contract Price
  • Quote History
  • Purchase History
  • Specific Price (API Customer-specific pricing negotiated with suppliers)
  • Web Price (Web / Findchips pricing)

You can modify the priority hierarchy of the price sources by dragging your preferred price sources up or down to different orders. This will determine the priority by source of price results utilized when populating your BOM.

Uncheck any price sources that you want to be disregarded when populating your BOM. Results from those sources will still be available within a part’s details in your BOM, but that price will not be utilized in applying selections.

For Contract Price, Quote Price, and Purchase History you can choose if the result should be Based On its IPN/CPNs or MPNs, as well as within a date range.

Then for both Specific Price (Customer/API) and Web Price, BOM Insight can pull data results based on Best price and stock, Best price at quantity, Best price available, or Match stock. The option of Best Price and Stock prioritizes identifying stock for results. When using Best price at quantity, this focuses on pricing items based on the best available price, while also taking into account the requested quantity falling within the distributor’s correct quantity break limit. Then for the choice of Match Stock, a price result's MOQ is used to differentiate between all the lowest prices found to help determine the selection. When the stock is not met, then the next price source preference in your hierarchy is considered.

Contract Price Options

You have multiple options on how to apply your Contract Pricing lists to a BOM. This includes whether to use all previously uploaded files or only specific contracts. When the box Exclude Expired Dates is checked, then results where an item has an Expire Date past today's date will be excluded. Otherwise, uncheck the box to ignore expired dates.

Contract Pricing Option 1: Apply all current Contract Pricing lists by clicking on the Edit Details pencil icon in the Contract Price section and selecting Use All Contract Pricing Lists.  This option will apply all of your current Contract Price lists and any created in the future. Therefore, when refreshing the BOM with these settings, all of your contract files from any time will be included.

As a result, the Additional Options section will show "All Lists Selected", meaning that your current and future contract lists will be included.

Quote Price Options

There are multiple options on how to apply Quote Price to your BOM. This includes whether to use all RFQs or specific quotes. When the box Exclude Expired Dates is checked, then items with an "Expire Date" past today's date will be excluded. Otherwise, uncheck the box to ignore expired dates. Then if Awarded from RFQ is checked, only line items identified as "Awarded" within an RFQ will be considered for results. Leave the box unchecked to ignore a line item's awarded status.

Web Pricing Options

For Web Price, you can set your Supplier Preferences using the Edit Details pencil icon. You can choose to have BOM Insight pull data from All Suppliers, select Preferred Suppliers First or Preferred Suppliers Only. Web pricing results are dynamic based on your location and will reflect the appropriate vendors servicing the region.

Cursor_and_Project___Bom___Settings___Supplyframe_DSI.jpg

If you choose to use either of the Preferred Suppliers options, there are many options listed for both Authorized Suppliers and Independent Suppliers. As available, you can use the "Select My Suppliers" to automatically choose your predetermined preferred suppliers from your settings.

The “Select My Suppliers” option is based on your Account Settings > Preferences > My Preferred Supplier Settings. Check the boxes of the specific suppliers that you want to use and click Close.

When you've finished with all of your Price Source modifications, click on Refresh list with new settings to save and apply these changes to your BOM results.

BOM Settings

In addition to modifying Cost Prioritization, you can edit the BOM options as well in your Settings.

Screenshot_7_9_24__5_33 PM.jpg

The Risk Index dropdown allows you to select by which Risk Index to evaluate the supply chain risk of components. The available Risk Indices will have been set up previously by your admin users from a mix of internal factors and market intelligence data as available inside the loaded BOM.

Within Multipliers, you can edit your quantity modifiers when a single quantity was mapped in the BOM creation. You can then enter up to a total of 6 comma separated multipliers. Your BOM will then show them as “Quantity Breaks” and the Extended Price will be based on the defined multipliers.

Through the Last Pick Settings, BOM Insight will autocorrect your part numbers based on how your company corrected it the last time. Once a part has been corrected, then it will apply that correction to that part moving forward unless you clean the part again. If unchecked, while part corrections won't be automatically applied, that data will still be available to access and view within your BOM.

With Manufacturer Settings, there are three options. The three options provided are:

  • Prioritize Req. Manufacturer (default) - the system will first look across all active price sources to identify a Manufacturer matching the Requested Manufacturer. If no match is identified, then another Manufacturer will be selected.
  • Requested Manufacturer Only (pre-existing functionality) - only parts where the Manufacturer matches the Requested Manufacturer will be priced. Otherwise, a Manufacturer will still be selected, but the line will be left unpriced. Even when checked, if pricing is by the IPN/CPN, then the Requested Manufacturer is ignored.
  • Ignore Req. Manufacturer - the Requested Manufacturer is not considered for the purpose of pricing. When checked, if the Requested Manufacturer exists on a line, then it will be ignored for the purpose of selecting a supplier option.

If there are two MPNs with the same IPNs, then the Req. Manufacturers will not be utilized in the pricing selection. Regardless if the setting for "Lowest Price" (across all) is selected or "Requested Manufacturer Settings" is checked for IPN/CPN, Supplyframe will ignore the Req. Manufacturer if it exists on the BOM line. This rule is only for IPN/CPN pricing when based on CP, PO, or QH. It does not affect WP and SP, since these price sources are based on MPN matching.

Then by checking the box for Lowest Price Settings, your BOM when refreshed will automatically choose the lowest price from all of your active price sources.

When you've finished with all your Price Sources and Preferences modifications, click on Refresh list with new settings to save and apply these changes to your BOM results.
