The Aliases section is located within a supplier's detail page. Aliases are helpful to utilize when there are other known names for a supplier. This helps to ensure that all connections are made regarding this specific supplier. Aliases are used during both AVL and Line Card supplier assignments.
Aliases can be set for all suppliers of any type (manufacturer, distributor & subcontractor). For the "Manufacturer" Type of suppliers, the alias will be used during the AVL and the line card supplier assignments to ensure a successful RFQ assignment. For a "Distributor" Type of supplier, the alias will be used during the AVL supplier assignment.
Add Aliases
The Alias section is accessible through a specific supplier's details page. Click on the Name of a supplier within your Suppliers List to view their details page. You will need to then scroll down to the supplier's Aliases section.
Click on +Add Alias and type the new unique alias name in the field. Then click Save to finish.
During assignments, the system will then assign line items to multiple suppliers depending on matches according to its existing aliases. Shared aliases are allowed across suppliers and all of the matches will be assigned to the RFQ line item. Since a supplier can only have enabled unique aliases, then it will display an error message when trying to add a duplicate. The system will show you an error notifying you if the name you've entered is not a unique alias.
When your alias has been successfully added, then in the Alias section you will see that the "Created By" will identify the email of the person who added the alias. Otherwise, it will display "System" when it is an alias added by Supplyframe.
Remove or Disable Aliases
As needed, you can Remove aliases that were added by you and your team. However, system aliases added by Supplyframe can only be disabled.
To remove team-added aliases, select the alias and click on Remove. It will ask, "Are you sure you want to remove?". Click on Yes, I'm sure to confirm and complete the deletion.
When you are not working with specific aliases, click on the X icon to the far right of the alias name in order to disable it.
This will hide it from your list and prevent it from being utilized in alias matching.
An alias can be enabled again by clicking on the checkmark to the far right of the alias' name.
Since system aliases are managed by Supplyframe there are no notifications provided when aliases are added or removed.
