DSI Release 2.9.0 - October 1, 2024
Quoting
Adding Requester Details to Supplier Emails
When an RFQ notification email is sent to suppliers, additional details about who is sending the RFQ is now included. The RFQ creator's name with their email ID as hyperlink has been added to the notification email. It also includes a note to notify the sender if the receiver’s email has been updated. When the receiver is no longer active to receive that email, Supplyframe is providing direction to the supplier to have their contact updated on the sender’s side.
The notification email now shows: “Created By: RFQ_creator_name (with RFQ_creator_emailID as hyperlink)” above the View RFQ button. There is an additional note, which states: “If you are not the correct contact person for sender’s_company_name, please notify RFQ_creator_name (with RFQ_creator_emailID as hyperlink)”.
After the name with hyperlink is clicked, it will open an email window in compose mode having RFQ_creator_email ID in the “To” box. This change is applicable to the below email triggers:
- Invitation (Details are of the person sending the invitation to the supplier.)
- New RFQ Notification
- RFQ Due date Changed
- RFQ Re-Opened
- RFQ Award Notification
- RFQ Closed
- New Parts are Assigned
- Lock/Unlock RFQ
RFQ Excess Cost on Responses
RFQ Excess Cost has been added to the RFQ for all quantity breaks. It allows you to assess any additional costs when you have to order more than the needed quantity due to Mins and Mult. The "Excess Cost" is displayed on the Responses and Review & Implement tabs. This feature ensures that you have the tools to make better decisions about order quantities, costs, inventory management and potential savings across different sourcing scenarios.
The system will calculate "Excess Cost" at the line item level for all quantity breaks based on supplier responses.
This calculation is done using the formula:
(Orderable Qty - Requested Qty) * Unit Cost * Quota / 100.
Where:
- Orderable Qty: The minimum orderable quantity from supplier as calculated by the system (similar calculation per BOM Insight).
- Requested Qty: The quantity the user requests.
- Unit Cost: The cost per unit provided by the supplier (Unit Price * Markup).
- Quota: The percentage of allocation to the supplier.
"Excess Cost" will be populated during the scenario visualization or when a scenario is applied. This ensures real-time feedback on the financial impact. If supplier pricing changes or "Quota", then the Refresh Savings should be triggered to update the "Excess Cost" calculation.
"Excess Cost" will use each corresponding Min, when Min is set to multiply with Qty breaks. Otherwise, "Excess Cost" will use Min 1, if only Min 1 exists. If the Min is missing, then "Excess Cost" will assume that the requested quantity passes the min and there is no excess for that line item.
"Excess Cost" will be integrated into the Savings calculation and appear in the Scenarios tab, right after the "Actual Spend" metric. For the scenarios section, "Excess Cost" will be calculated for Qty 1.
"Excess Cost" is not a System Column, but is dynamically part of the cost breakdown in the RFQ interface and scenarios functionality. With future releases, the "Excess Cost" will be a part of the awarding logic, so you can award while taking into account the lowest excess cost, as opposed to the price.
Suppliers
Supplier Tags
Within NPI-DS, Supplier Settings have been added, which allows you to create tags for your suppliers. These tags are visible when an item is priced from that supplier from your various price sources in BOM Insight, or where pricing takes place and can be displayed under the Supplier Intelligence info.
This functionality allows filters inside a BOM. The tags are applicable to System Suppliers and Web Suppliers.
Tags QTY limitations:
- 100 tags total per customer
- 5 tags per supplier
Tag fields have validation:
- Only alpha-numeric values are accepted.
- No spaces supported and only 2 symbols are supported to connect words. (Those are "- and
_".) - Case Insensitive (converts all to lowercase)
- You must be able to assign custom tag or multiple tags when creating supplier.
- When creating a tag, a list of previously created tags should be suggested while typing.
- You must be able to assign custom tag or multiple tags when creating supplier.
Interactions with tags:
- You can see/edit/add existing tags to an existing supplier on Supplier details page.
- You can manage all tags for all suppliers in System Settings - Manage tags.
- You can assign supplier tags in the Supplier Intelligence info modal
- On BOMs page you can filter out by selected tag(s).
Supplier Due Date
This new functionality's goal is to allow the RFQ due date to be set on a per-supplier basis. Previously, there was a single RFQ Due Date for all suppliers, specified at the RFQ header. Now, you are able to add a supplier specific due date at the time of submitting RFQ on the Submit tab. Default due date will be the RFQ's due date, but it can be changed at the supplier level before submitting.
The person creating the RFQ has the following capabilities:
-
Main RFQ page:
- You will see a "multiple due dates" badge in case your customer due dates were set for
selected suppliers on the Submit>Suppliers page. - You will be able to click the "mdd" badge to open side panel with list of suppliers and
their due dates.
- You will see a "multiple due dates" badge in case your customer due dates were set for
-
Create New RFQ And RFQ Details page:
- This is if at any time after you set specific due dates for selected suppliers or you
decide to change the "All Suppliers" due date. This action will overwrite all previously set custom due dates and show a warning that this action will “overwrite all previously set custom due dates for suppliers in this RFQ”.
- This is if at any time after you set specific due dates for selected suppliers or you
-
RFQ>Submit>Suppliers:
- Adds a Supplier due date column and allows you to set a specific separate due date for a
selected supplier.
- Adds a Supplier due date column and allows you to set a specific separate due date for a
Your suppliers will see either the custom due dates set for them for the selected RFQ or see the overall supplier RFQ due date if a custom date was not set.
Improvements
"Did You Mean" Logic Enhancement
There is an enhancement to the "Did You Mean" feature in BOM Insight, aimed at improving search suggestion accuracy and relevance. This update refines the logic by integrating results from string distance and parametric match methods, ensuring only similar part numbers are suggested. This allows for precise filtering and exclusion of dissimilar part numbers.
This enhancement will reduce search time and improve decision-making by providing you with more accurate suggestions, thereby enhancing the overall efficiency and user experience of BOM Insight.
Updated Part Details Expand Section
The "Expand" section of each BOM line item now displays additional "System" type part details for each Part Master item. Previously, only the "Part Category" field was shown. With this update, you will now see these details:
- Part Description
- Plant
- Subcontractor
- Unit of Measure (UOM)
This will allow you to quickly access critical information without navigating away from the BOM interface, thereby streamlining workflows and improving efficiency.
Demand Management: Group Edit, Add Part Master Alternates
There are additional fields being included when triggering "Add Part Master Alternates" section in order to add new MPNs inside your Demand. The original information copied was from Qty, Plant, Subcontractor, UOM and Target Price for an IPN. Starting with this release, it is now copying these additional fields:
- Category
- Region
- Custom Region
- Custom Grouping
When leveraging these columns, this information is useful to be retained on each line. All of these columns are related to the IPN, Plant and Subcontractor group. Therefore, if it’s not being populated from the Part Master or Mapping table, then it should be copied from the main IPN.
It will use the following logics:
- If any of these columns are setup per the demand template to populate from one of the sources offered, then allow it to populate. However, if no value is found, then values are copied from the main IPN (first IPN in an IPN, Plant and Subcontractor unique group).
- If any of these columns do not have population set up through the demand template, then values are copied from the main IPN (first IPN in an IPN, Plant and Subcontractor group).
Renaming Projects to Folders and Lists to Projects in Permissions Headers
This improvement adjusted the names in the header columns of Permissions, so that "View All Projects" has become "View All Folders".

API
Addition of “Preferred” Status Parameter
The API endpoint for Part Master alternatives now includes the "Preferred" status parameter. This enhancement allows you to update the "Preferred" status of a part directly via the API, which was previously unavailable. This addition provides you with greater flexibility and control over managing part alternatives through the API.
The updated endpoint structure is as follows:
Endpoint Example: {{base_url}}/api/part-master/items/{master_id}/alternatives/{id}
