Supplyframe provides support for non-electronic components. These are components with Part Categories that do not use "Supplyframe Intelligence". These Part Categories do not automatically match your non-electronic MPNs to any supplier/manufacturer databases within Supplyframe.

When a part belongs to a category that does not use "Supplyframe Intelligence", then it will not attempt to map that part against our databases. The Part Intelligence icon in the MPN cell will not show and it removes the Web and Specific Pricing options entirely in the BOM.

Part details for your non-electronic components can be stored within Part Master. Then those part details can be accessed through their Part Categories Templates to flow into your BOM or RFQs.

Part Categories

In order to include non-electronic components in your BOM within BOM Insight, as an admin (or with enabled permissions) you will need to create a new Part Category Template. Then specify that this part category will not be using the "Supplyframe Intelligence" functionality.

Part details sharable in the RFQ will be displayed in their own column. When an RFQ includes parts from multiple categories, then columns from all Part Category Templates will be included. This is important as non-electronic components will have different parameters relevant to suppliers at the time of quoting.

These details are set to Viewable/Editable through "Supplier Rules" in the templates as admin configured.

This is done by unchecking the Use Supplyframe Intelligence for this category option in the Create New Part Category modal.

When a part belongs to a category that does not use "Supplyframe Intelligence", then it will not attempt to map that part against our databases. This helps prevent “Fix It” errors in BOM Insight due these parts being non-electronic components.

More information on how to create categories are available for you as admins in the Part Categories Management article.

Part Category Columns

Within a Part Category template, selecting its columns allows you to add part details essential for that particular category. Within these category templates, you can select the System Template columns to specify fields to be imported with your BOM. These columns can then flow through into your RFQ and shared with your suppliers quoting you.

However, when you have data that does not match the existing system columns in Supplyframe, such as fields for non-electronic components, then you will need to create them as "User Defined" System Template columns. This allows your non-electronic component fields to be imported with your BOM and displayed in your RFQ.

You can read more in articles about using Part Categories and on how to create user defined columns in the System Template Columns article.

Part Master

You can add non-electronic components as Internal Part Numbers (IPNs) within your Part Master. Adding non-electronic parts to Part Master is the same as for electronic components, except you're selecting a non-electronic "Part Category" in the Add Internal Part Number modal.

Part Number Details

Once your non-electronic parts have been added to Part Master, click on an IPN in the Part Master List to view its Part Details. Using the tabs under the Part Details section, you view the: Alternates, Documents, Contract Pricing, Purchase Order, Approved Manufacturers and Approved Vendors.
