BOM Insight

Risk Index

The new feature of the Risk Index empowers you to define and use risk metrics when analyzing parts inside BOMs in BOM Insight. There is a default Risk Index that will be used across BOMs, until a customized index is created by your admins.

System_Settings___Risk_Index___Supplyframe_DSI.jpg

The default Risk Index is pre-set with selected parameters, conditions and scores. When there are custom created risk indices, these are available for you to select in your "Risk & Cost Options" when uploading a new BOM.

Project___Bom___New___Supplyframe_DSI.jpg

They can also be modified in the Settings for your existing BOMs.

Project___Bom___Supplyframe_DSI.jpg

Project___Bom___Settings___Supplyframe_DSI.jpg

Within your BOM's Risk Index results, a scale is used to convey the riskiness of the part:

  • Low (green): 0 - 30
  • Medium (orange): 31 - 60
  • High (red): 61 - 100

Project___Bom___Supplyframe_DSI.jpg

When calculating the averaged risk across all parameters, Supplyframe is rounding to the nearest whole number. When either conditions are not met, data is not available or identified, then those conditions are ignored when calculating the overall Risk Index score. If multiple conditions are satisfied for one parameter, then the first one in order will be taken into account.

Please view this article for detailed information about the new Risk Index here. For admins, you can review this Risk Index Management article to easily set up your custom risk indices.

The Cube Intelligence

The "Cube" icon in BOM Insight indicates that additional intelligence is available and you will find it in various places within the platform. Clicking on the cube will either open a side panel for additional information (e.g. Part Intelligence at MPN level) or to the intelligence page directly.

In the example below, you can see there's a cube icon next to the "Name" in BOM Insight's list page. Clicking on the cube will take you to the BOM Intelligence for that specific list without the need to click on the BOM. This enables you to directly access the list's BOM Intelligence.

Projects___Bom___My___Supplyframe_DSI.jpg

The next example is within your BOM. The Part Intelligence cube next to the MPN now opens a side bar so you can have easy visibility of the component's details for more context.

Cursor_and_Project___Bom___Supplyframe_DSI.jpg

Another example is Commodity Intelligence available at line level inside the BOM when clicking on the Cube next to the part's commodity.

Project___Bom___Supplyframe_DSI.jpg

When available, you can access a part's Price Intelligence by clicking on the cube by its quoted pricing. This will open the pricing modal with its six tabs of pricing information as available from the various price sources. Clicking on the intelligence cube opens it immediately to the Price Analysis tab.

Project___Bom___Supplyframe_DSI.jpg

On its Price Analysis tab, you can see analytics of the part displayed within a graph if available.

Lastly, there is Supplier Intelligence, which can be accessed at the line level within your BOM by clicking on the cube icon next to the respective supplier. You can see displayed in the supplier's side bar the tabs of: Info, Contacts, and Line Card.

Project___Bom___Supplyframe_DSI.jpg

The Info tab provides insight regarding your supplier such as their "Response Time" and other applicable information. You can then view your Contacts for the supplier and their current Line Card.

Commodity "AI Insight"

The Commodity “AI Insight” is a groundbreaking feature that will empower you with invaluable analysis around the market dynamics of a commodity. Imagine having a dedicated source of information right inside your Bill of Materials (BOM) that arms you with a proactive approach to next steps. This will lead to more informed decisions about when to procure components, a true ally for smarter, more cost-effective, and efficient BOM management.

Insights are derived from Commodity IQ intelligence (CIQ module has to be enabled for the account).

Filters and Views

Within a BOM, the filters now open on the left side when clicking on “See All Filters”. These include the quick filters for parts, such as "needing attention" and "parts with exact matches" in the main BOM view. You can use the button "Show Filters" to open the side bar and "Hide Filters" to minimize the side view.

Project___Bom___Supplyframe_DSI.jpg

The risk filters (“BOM Risk”) are accessible when clicking on the BOM Risk in the top right of the list. Within the BOM Risk right side bar, you can see the filters for risk pertaining to: Lifecycle Status, Risk Index, Suppliers Coverage, and Alternates Coverage.

Project___Bom___Supplyframe_DSI.jpg

You can view the "Total Price" for a BOM displayed at top right of your list and clicking on it opens the cost breakup in the right Cost side bar.

Project___Bom___Supplyframe_DSI.jpg

Where there are multiple quantity breaks are in your BOM, then the cost breakup will list the totals for each quantity break.

Some additional filters include:

  • Country of Origin chart and filters has been added to the BOM Intelligence.
  • Years to End of Life has also been added to BOM Intelligence.

BOM Intelligence and "AI Insight"

The “AI Insight” on the BOM Intelligence is a game-changer for your BOM Management. This feature will take a comprehensive look at the BOM and the different commodities inside the BOM. It then summarizes the up to date market information to extract the essence of what matters most about the commodity trends in the context of strategic sourcing and procurement.

The "AI Insight" is located in the upper right corner on the BOM Intelligence page. Within the frame, you can scroll down to see all of the available information.

Project___Rfq___Assignments___Supplyframe_DSI.jpg

The Internal Assignment feature is enhanced to allow more flexibility during your supplier assignments. You can now allocate internal assignees before suppliers are assigned. This can helpful for example when your RFQ assignments are done by just the parts' categories.

If Internal Assignment is done after suppliers have been assigned to the lines, and suppliers are being reassigned, then the Assignee will default to the Buyer. Internal Assignment should be reapplied.

If Internal Assignment is done before the Suppliers have been assigned, then supplier assignments or re-assigning will not affect the Internal Assignee.

Spend and Savings

You can now easily access your Spend and Savings in a tab to the right of Scenarios within your RFQ.

Project___Rfq___Responses___Supplyframe_DSI.jpg

Responses Bar

The top section of your RFQ Responses page displays a bar with some important statuses related to the RFQ. These include: a few Spend & Savings KPIs, Scenario that has been applied, Total Progress across suppliers, and the Internal Activity for IPN/MPNs.
