Supplyframe's NPI-DS 2.20 release features significant updates- including permission changes, visual streamlining for your BOMs, and the introduction of a brand new module, 'Sourcing'.

First, Access Groups have now been added across all NPI-DS, which feature improvements and more control on how folders and projects are accessed by your team.

BOM Insight is also presenting a new look for BOM Intelligence within a new 'Analysis' page.

We're also introducing an entirely new module, Sourcing, an optional module for participating customers that allows management of complex sourcing and material costing efforts across multiple BOMs and Demands.

General Improvements

Access Groups

What is it? -  A new way to allow a selection of your team members access to specific areas within your NPI-DS instance.

Why do I need this? - Previously, permissions were more general across NPI-DS, but with Access Groups, you can create smaller groups to allow access to specific Folders, Projects, BOMs, Demands, Sourcing and RFQs.

Where can I find it? - Admins, can enable Access Groups by clicking their profile icon in the top-right, and then clicking 'Organization' and then the 'Access Groups' sub-tab. From here, the admin can click 'New Access Group' to create a new group or an existing group name to make edits.

How does it work? - Once the group is created by a user, the access group the user is part of will be automatically assigned when creating new projects within NPI-DS. You'll see the group getting access at the bottom right of the project creation page, with a trash can icon option to remove access to the group if needed:

Please note:

Granting access to a folder via Access Groups does not automatically extend that access to all projects within the folder.  For users to access projects within a folder, they need to be part of the specific project's Access Group, or have the "View all Projects" permission, or be an admin user.

Feel free to contact us at support@supplyframe.com if you would like more explanation or training related to optimizing your team's Access Groups or permissions within NPI-DS.

BOM Insight

Analysis View

What is it? - A new 'Analysis' view has been added to BOM Insight, providing you better visibility and clearer hierarchy of your BOM Intelligence:

Why do I need this? - The 'Analysis' view will make it easier to connect information to your BOM for cost, risk, lifecycle, and supplier metrics.

Where can I find it? - In any BOM within BOM Insight click the 'Analysis' tab under your BOM name to view the Analysis page:

How does it work? - Critical indicators like Part Status, Risk, Lead Time, and Cost have been added to the top row providing a clear summary:

Charts and Insights are now easily viewed and grouped now by Risk, Cost, and Compliance for quick review:

Costing is now organized for how most teams evaluate their BOMs across Contract, History ad Web Price:

You'll also find Supplyframe's AI insights at the bottom of every BOM Analysis page under the BOM Cost section:

Price in Source Currency

What is it? - We've added two new export options for your BOM Insight exports focused on currency.

Why do I need this? - These two new columns will allow you to preserve the currency in your exported file for your line item pricing, independent of the Currency displayed within BOM Insight.

Where can I find it? - You'll see the two new column options when selecting 'Project' in the top-left, and then clicking 'Export', where you'll then be prompted with the Export Preferences options.

How does it work? - The 'Price in Source Currency' will export your line item in the original currency you selected when picking pricing. For example, if you chose a line item where a supplier's price is provided in EUR in BOM Insight, your export will now show that EUR value- even if your BOM within the BOM Insight is set to display USD.

The 'Source Currency' will provide the currency code for the corresponding line item, like EUR or USD.

Removal of Risk Rank

What is it? - Since the introduction of the customizable 'Risk Index', we have now removed Risk Rank entirely from NPI-DS.

Where can I find it? - Previously, users would have seen 'Risk Rank' under the 'Xref, Form, Fit, Function Equivalents' tab from the alternates pop-up in BOM Insight, but this is now fully removed.

How does it work? - We're planning improvements for 'Xref, Form, Fit, Function Equivalents' in alternates for more data available in this tab within future releases.

Sourcing

Supplyframe's NPI-DS Newest Module

What is it? - A new Supplyframe NPI-DS application is now available for participating customers to help with management of complex sourcing across multiple BOMs and Demands. Sourcing offers Parts List control, an all in one visual centric Overview page, an information rich Costed BOMs page, and an Analysis page powered by our Supplyframe Intelligence.

Why do I need this? - The Sourcing app allows for consolidation across multiple BOMS and Demand lists, allows you to cost at aggregated quantities, and identify specific line items to send directly to RFQs.

Where can I find it? - If enabled as a participating customer, you'll see the Sourcing app in the top row of your team's NPI-DS instance between BOM Insight and Quoting:

Please contact your Customer Success Manager or support@supplyframe.com for more information on enabling this new module.

How does it work? - Open the Sourcing module and select 'Add a New Sourcing Project' to begin:

Immediately after initial setup and processing your project, you'll land on the default 'Parts List' page within Sourcing, providing a list view of your uploaded parts:

On your parts list page, you can review for Excess Cost and Low Progress, use Quick Filters, IPN/MPN Search to navigate large projects, validate for any manufacturer mismatches, and check for lifecycle risks and compliance issues.

From here, it's best practice to then review the Sourcing 'Overview' page accessed by clicking the Overview tab.

Overview is where the majority of your work in Sourcing will take place, and provides a view of your Sourcing projects potential issues, highlighting parts based on Risk, Lifecycle, Cost, and Progress Status.

On the Overview page, you'll see charts for a quick breakdown of High, Medium and Low sourcing risks, Lifecycle and Status:

Overview also provides a 'tag' table to breakdown your Risk and Status based on system set tags and custom tags (which can be set by your account Administrator):

The 'Costed BOMs' tab is the suggested next step after working in Overview. Click 'Costed BOMs' to view:

On this page, you'll be able to evaluate how much each BOM or Demand within a Sourcing project would cost based on your quantity breaks. You'll see a side-by-side breakdown to easily compare Total Cost, Unit Cost, and Excess Cost across your BOMs.

You can click into a BOM title for a breakdown of line-by-line supplier pricing and quantity coverage.

On the last tab, Analysis, you can evaluate your Sourcing project across different quantity break scenarios, similar to how Analysis is now available in BOM Insight:
