Sourcing Levels can work together with an AVL during Assignments to provide further customization for how supplier assignments are applied. The use of Sourcing Level is optional and works with your assigned AVL if an admin has uploaded the Sourcing Level matrix for use. Applying the Sourcing Level feature in the RFQ will assign a sourcing level to each of the lines by matching through the Category and Manufacturer.
When you are sourcing directly from manufacturers, this can help set specific rules to ensure a line always gets assigned to the manufacturer, regardless of an AVL match. This will happen whenever a “G” (Global) or “L” (Local) identifier exists as a sourcing level in the RFQ, helping to manage smaller AVLs that include only franchised distributors. This feature can help ensure that a line will always get assigned to the manufacturer regardless of a match by AVL. It also enables you to manage smaller AVLs that include only the franchised distributors.
Click the Sourcing Level button on the Assignments page. Specify if you want the sourcing levels to Apply to: "All Items" or "Only Selected Items". Then click on Assign to apply your Sourcing Levels to your lines.
Once line items have a Sourcing Level, and you've checked the option to “Use Sourcing Level Rules” in the Assign By AVL, then your supplier assignments will take into account the defined rule for each line within an existing sourcing level.
If the sourcing level information is missing on RFQ lines and “Use Sourcing Level Rules” is checked, then assignments will take place just based on the AVL for those lines.
The Sourcing Level matrix is accessible and managed by your admins. Admins can review more information in the article about Sourcing Level Management.
