The BOM Comparison report allows you to see detailed information regarding potential differences in your BOMs. This reports shows both a Line Level Comparison and BOM Intelligence Comparison. This feature can be useful in comparing different versions of the same BOM in order to see the line item level differences between the lists or the intelligence differences at the BOM level. The report can be used for comparison of any BOMs.
Use the Reports dropdown in the top navigation bar to access the BOM Comparison Report page. In the Create A Report left side bar, select the BOMs that you wish to use. The filter field can help you narrow your selections of BOMs.
Next, specify how to Group and Sort the results, such as by CPN, MPN, Manufacturer and Suppliers. You can use any combination of selections. When using multiple selections, then the results must match all options selected in order to display them in the report. Otherwise, it will be left out.
Then you can pick if you want to View by all of your selected BOMs or an individual list. In order for results to display, you must at least complete the Select BOMs and how you want to Group By. When ready, click on Show Report to generate the results.
The first tab shows your report based on a Line Level Comparison. It will be sorted and displayed based on your selections. You can then see by each grouping the line items' comparative details, displayed with their: BOM Name, Supplier, Requested quantity, Price, Extended Price, and Risk Index.
Refining your report's display by the View By (specific BOM) and Sort By (CPN or MPN) can you help you dive deeper into specific results within the report. The View By enables you to filter and see results either from one specific lists or from all BOMs selected. Then the Sort By is how you can modify the display of results to be by either the CPN or by the MPN.
The second tab shows your report based on its BOM Intelligence Comparison. It will display each BOM horizontally with the following vertical comparisons: Alternates Coverage, Suppliers Source Risk, MPN Risk Index, MPN Life Cycle, Cost by Manufacturer, Cost by Supplier, and Cost by Category. There's an Export Report functionality as well, which will immediately download an Excel file of your report results.
The file includes 4 tabs: Summary, Line Level Comparison, BOM Intelligence Comparison and Comparison Cost Breakdown. The export is based on the UI view. For the Line Level Comparison, data for CPN, MPN, Manufacturer, and Supplier are always included, regardless if checked for the grouping. Sorting is based on the first checked item in the group (e.g., IPN, MPN, Manufacturer).
